Creative Commuting

Poor old Darcy to Dionysus has been neglected these last few months, due to the outrageous demands of real life. Job moves. House moves. IT difficulties and other demands have conspired to make Meg a dull girl.

And i've been Searching for Superwomen which has led to a major geek revival at Chez McNulty. Trawling through back copies of the Silver Surfer can take its toll on a girl. Cosmic surfboards to see, planets to save - you know the score.

No more. Because as of August I have 1.5 hours a day sitting on a bus and that, dear friend is MY TIME- and I have plans. Step one in my mission to refuel creatively is to tool up. I've got myself a neat piece of kit - a tablet that turns into a netbook. It's called a transfomer. I like to call it Optimus.

The reason why Optimus is so fabulous is because he doesn't just enable writing, he enables art. Digital art. And that means comics.

Regulars will recall that being able to draw my own comic book character featured large on my Things to Do Before You Die list. Thanks to Optimus I've made a start.

Writing will be relaunching too - in September. In the meantime I leave you with the fruits of my collaboration with Optimus. You might recognise one- she's my banshee.

Thank you! It's not exactly Jack Kirby but practice makes perfect as they say - everyone has to start somewhere :-)

It's fun to play with digital art! It's come a long way since Paint, lol, and enjoy your bus rides, anything that gives you time to create is worth everything!

I don't think I'll ever be super at pictures, but I do get a lot out of them - it's about the only thing I do which keeps me in the NOW. I can draw for hours!
